In the 70's at the time I was with Tom Jones I spent a great deal of time on the classical guitar. I used the time on tour to brush up on my classical chops. We had a lot of time to ourselves at this time and I found that it was easy to get bored. I have inserted a few pieces on this page just to show how one can improve over a period of a year when one does get down to practicing. Unfortunately I only have these few instances of me playing classical guitar. I did have a couple of spots on T J's TV shows when I played classical guitar. I love the instrument and I have played next to John Williams and Tim Walker on the film "200 Motels" and they are proper classical players. Still I held my own with these 2 superb instrumentalists and was complimented by John Williams for my sound. I had a program of about 30 pieces that I could play by heart and believe me that's all you need when you are basically an electric guitarist. To keep the classical chop up is almost impossible when you are playing electric guitar. For start I kept on wearing my fingernails down when I played with a pick. I also would break or tear my nails finger picking on steel strings. Anyway I hope you enjoy these few tracks. By the way these tracks were all recorded on a cassette player at home while I was practicing, so the sound isn't all that great.
